Eleodes sp? - Eleodes

Size: ~ 2 cm
I've only seen these beetles in the desert before, but there were many of them out and about in the Bay Area today. Perhaps an Eleodes sp darkling beetle?

Nice detail of texture on the fused elytra (wing covers).
