Stilt Legged Fly - Rainieria antennaepes

Size: 8-10mm
Found walking about a wood park bench moving it's front legs (which looked like antennae) up and down.
I'm a but confused about this one. What I thought were antennae appear to be front legs, and I don't see any notable ovipositor.
Apparently a stilt legged fly then. Very cool dipteran!

That's it!
The flies continue to amaze. I thought it was definitely a wasp when I first saw it, but once I got the pictures - those eyes, and those "fake" antenna legs... I just wasn't sure anymore.

As a lifelong Californian...
I didn't see one of these until I went on a trip back east with my family a few years back. Apparently you guys have some insects we don't, like fireflies that actually glow in the dark.
