Rosy Maple - Dryocampa rubicunda

Rosy Maple - Dryocampa rubicunda
Silver Spring (northern part of city), Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
July 26, 2005
Found this outside my apartment resting on the ledge in some shade. Remained at this location for two days. Took several pictures...this was the best one of the bunch. I suspect pink prominant however the legs and body shape/appearance may be different from other pictures I have seen. The apartment rests near some heavily forested areas with clearings of wild flowers. I am very interested in its identification since I am relatively new to this area and am constantly surprised by the variety of moths present.

Yum
It looks just like a piece of candy!
