Found while removing rocks around a flower bed. It played dead when I touched it. I'm mostly interested in what it wants to eat. If it's my plants or trees, I might have to get nasty :-)

Zopherus tristis, i believe
rest assured it will not eat any living plant tissues

So is the key word "living"?
Thanks so much for the quick reply! Are you saying that he does eat plants but not living? I've read that some insects will invade diseased or stressed plants and trees so I'm trying to keep all healthy.

"living" = key word, correct
(though i would sacrifice any plants to keep insects healthy... :))

Thanks!
Rest assured that all I ever do is try to encourage plant devouring insects to relocate. :-) As a photographer, I love seeing all creatures (big and small) in my garden.

good to know :-]
please keep taking and posting good pix on BG!
