Laphria grossa

Laphria grossa
Shawnee, Johnson County, Kansas, USA

Laphria grossa ??

Yes
It appears to be a male grossa.

yes
I there are 6 species in Kansas, and it's not L. canis, lata, thoracica, sicula. If it's fairly large, I'd say you can rule out L. vorax. Hopefully Herschel will weigh in for a confirmation

And
There is a yellow form lata. It may be that lata and grossa are the same species as the male genitals appear to be virtually identical.

it was large
Thanks for the help.
It was definitely good sized, like an XL bumblebee. Actually that's what I thought it was at first glance.
