Size: 7mm
Attracted to light from a neighbor's pond or birdbath. This unfortunate individual has been parasitized with sporulating fungi (probably Zygomycota). This particular fungus produces a sporangium (near left eye), a bulging red cell that will shortly burst releasing more fungal spores into the environment.

Sure that's not a larval mite?
That red bulge looks quite a bit like the parasitic larva of a mite. Many water mites cling to aquatic insects, particularly nepid bugs, feeding off haemolymphe.
