Pickens County, Georgia, USA
May 26, 2009
Size: est. body length 12 mm.
I think this might be the Six-Spotted Tiger Beetle - Cicindela sexguttata.
Apparently the number of spots on this beetle varies, some individuals having six,
others fewer spots or even none at all.
Found on walkway in yard.
Comments/corrections appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Tiger Beetles.

sexguttata
Southern individuals often lack spots or have very reduced spots--no doubt about the identification of this one.

Moved
Moved from Beetles. I suspect that you're right, and that this one is just missing a couple of spots, but I've just moved your images to the general tiger beetle section for now. I think the right person will be more likely to come across them here.

Thanks a lot for taking a look and for moving them closer to home :~)
