Another striped fly from Peters Canyon - Apolysis

Another striped fly from Peters Canyon - Apolysis
Peters Canyon, Orange, Orange County, California, USA
May 26, 2009
Wish I could get better photos and hope to try again. The animal is very small and so deep into the flower that parts of this are obscured by parts of that. Oh, how I long for a foliage filter!

Moved
Moved from Mythicomyiidae.

Apolysis
These are bombyliids rather than mythicomyiids - I think they are Apolysis.

Aha. Did have that bee fly look. Maybe I got stripe-happy.
Looking at the first fly, I see the error of my ways. Thanks, Joel, for the correction. Apolysis looks spot-on, so I'll move them there.
