Osmia (Melanosmia?) - Osmia - female

Osmia (Melanosmia?) - Osmia - Female
Liebre Mountain, Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 27, 2009
Size: 9mm
In Eriodictyon crassifolium Yerba Santa.
Could this be the female of the same sp. as the male here?

female Osmia (Melanosmia) sensu lato
one of the Chenosmia (former more narrow subgenus)

this may or may not be the female of the male you posted earlier

I examined this specimen this morning
after Robbin Thorp suggested to see if it had a carinate ridge at the top back of the head. It does, & so does one of the males I looked at (not the one shown in the 'thumb'). Thus, this would be Osmia aglaia Sandhouse, acc. to Robbin.

Thanks, John!
I do have some specimens. Do you think it may be worth sending them to Robbin Thorp in Davis? New York is perhaps a bit far.

Augochlorini? (Halictidae)
male

Don't think so -
not with two submarginals, robust shape, big head, and (sign of female) ventral scopa.
