Wolf spider? - Pardosa

Wolf spider? - Pardosa
Taber, Southern, Alberta, Canada
May 27, 2009
Size: Small -- dime
I think it is a wolf spider, similiar to the the image at http://bugguide.net/node/view/240002 -- perhaps a juvenile? He was extremely fast and this was the only shot I managed to get. I was within 5 feet of a river, lots of dead vegetation on the ground for cover.

Just a guess...
Sorry I can't ID this one for you, I am definitely not a spider expert. But, I thought that it looked pretty similar to one that I submitted awhile back which was identified as genus Pardosa:

Unfortunately, a lot of spiders look like one another and that is isn't always enough to be certain of an ID. :-(

Wolf spider
looks right, although I'm having a hard time seeing the eyes on this one. They can be very hard to ID to species.

Eyes:
Yeah - I couldn't get his eyes. He was moving so very fast, it was just chance that I had my camera on the right setting from an earlier photo. I was walking away from the river willows and saw him go scurrying away across the ground, so I pretty much just jammed my camera straight down and shot, hoping for the best. He wasn't in the mood to pose.
