Some kind of mating fly - Mydas maculiventris - Male Female

Before I could get close to this mating couple another of the black smaller specimens (presuming male) flew in and disrupted things. These were the only images I got. I apologize for the poor quality but I am very curious exactly what they are. Thank you.
