Size: around 10 mm

Nice picture
Nice picture, Lynette. What's the habitat for this spider?

Habitat
found under a large plastic irrigation tube with a bunch of slugs. The larger habitat is clover, grass, ponds and on the edge of a green belt. Image can be seen here: flickr. I still need to get confirmation from Rod that I've place this correctly.

Hi, Lynne-

What is that then in your picture? It looks enormous.

flickr picture
If you're talking about the flickr picture, it is 3 settling ponds in a new housing development. Due to the housing market, the land has been cleared (two years ago), and the settling ponds were put in, but it has remained undeveloped other than that. There is quite a bit of other contruction stuff around like the tube I mentioned above. Also, those large retaining walls attract spiders, frogs, slugs, beetles etc. This winter the leaves piled up along one of the walls and created a great little leaf litter area where I found frogs, a salamander and quite a few beetles.
