Unknown beetle larvae 02

Unknown beetle larvae 02
southwestern Pennsylvania, Washington County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 5, 2009
Size: 18 mm
This critter turned up in a sample of benthic macroinvertebrates I collected. I'm having some trouble with ID; I think it may be a terrestrial that fell in the stream.

Any thoughts?

I can provide photos with a greater degree of magnification if necessary, just let me know what part of the anatomy you'd like to see.

Thanks

RE: Larva of a netwinged beetle
Hi Eric,

Thanks for the ID. I'm somewhat familiar with netwinged beetles and I've always found the adult to be interesting. Now I see that the larvae are pretty neat too. And thanks for the nice comment on the photos. I another quick question; if you don't mind?

I have a few additional photos similar to those that I posted that I took with my camera, plus some pretty detailed shots that were taken with the camera attached to our microscope where I work. Do you think I should upload those to the appropriate section of this site? I've never uploaded anything other than photos for identification before so I don't know what might be of interest to others.

Thanks,
Steve
