Stink Bug? - Podisus maculiventris

Stink Bug? - Podisus maculiventris
Piney Point, Manatee County, Florida, USA
June 1, 2009

Hello Everyone
I'm just curious, How long do these bugs live?, and what do they eat?

Sorry, I didn't see this comment before
In the lab, they stay alive for about a month on average with fairly constant food and water. Sometimes closer to a month and a half. They will eat just about anything. They're the ultimate generalist predator and have been reported to eat feed on over 100 prey items.

By the way, the one in this picture's a female. The shape is pretty distinctive.

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking about it, and I just listed the adult life span. They also take about a month to develop from egg to adult, so 2 to 2.5 months approximately, total.

must be Podisus maculiventris -- will have it checked
sorry about the screwup, guys. =v=

ID confirmed by D.B. Thomas: P. maculiventris
