Spider 2 - Araneus pegnia

Spider 2 - Araneus pegnia
DeSoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
June 3, 2009
Size: ~5 mm
I noticed this only because it was swinging on a line. I let it come back to rest on the Yaupon Holly and it landed near an orb web about 10cm across--but I don't have proof that the web belonged to this individual.

Wonder if it might be related

There were several
on that page and on the internet that had that distinctive "butterfly shape" on them. Most of them were white or grayish, but a few had reddish markings--at least on the rest of the back--so it's a possibility. Do we call it A. pegnina or wait?
