Tiny Black Beetle - Phalacrus

Tiny Black Beetle - Phalacrus
Santa Clara, Santa Clara County, California, USA
June 1, 2009
Size: Guessing 2mm
It showed pretty well compared to my hand.

Moved

Phalacrus sp.
Phalacrus sp.

unlinked this one --
not only a diff. individual, but not even in the same family

Sorry about that!
It sure looked like it flew from the plant to my arm, but there must have been two bugs in the air! Well, at least you cleared that question up!

this is a phalacrid (impossible to tell more from the pic)
Olibrus???

I think you may have nailed it!
Apparently the termination of the antennas are diagnostic for olibrus, and while this one seems to conform to the general appearance, I was unable to get enough detail to say for sure.

I see them from time to time, however with the 2mm or so size is challenge to get a good shot of the antennas! Thanks for your help on this, and with many others!
