Lordotus sp - Lordotus

Lordotus sp - Lordotus
Borrego Springs, San Diego County, California, USA
March 19, 2006
Size: BL ~ 16 mm
We saw this Lordotus at the Borrego Sink. There were several of them, perching on the sand or sipping nectar at Cryptantha. I don't know if the three images are of the same bee fly, but all were taken at the same place on the same date.

There are so many Lordotus. Can one with this body build be identified to a group? I have several very different Lordotus and will be happy with any guidance.
