why placed at this level?
just one sp. of this genus is known to occur in our area, and it's hard to expect any surprises in this department, it seems... so if this is indeed Stiretrus (which ID i emphatically do not question!), it would be reasonable [would it now?] to assume that it's S. anchorago and move the nymphal pics one step further.
just a thought.

Wish we could say for certain what we were using
for a reference back then that made us make this move. But we don't really remember and have since been scared off of making stinkbug nymph IDs. It is entirely possible that we thought it looked so much like the nymphs for anchorago in the guide that we figured it had to be related. It is also possible that we were reading something that led us to Stiretrus. Just not sure. The new posting does look identical to this one. But we would not be offended if you moved them all back to subfamily.
