Pirate Spider - Mimetus puritanus

Pirate Spider - Mimetus puritanus
Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
June 6, 2009
Size: ~3-4mm

Moved
Moved from Mimetus.

Mimetus puritanus?
An immature male. Most common species for your area, according to Kaston (1948), is M. puritanus and it looks like the couple specimens that I've seen.

M. puritanus
Kevin, do you think it's safe to move it to a species page?

Species page?

It's subadult, so a more detailed determination is not really possible. I would put it down as Mimetus cf. puritanus... but I don't know how that translates into BG. Certainly if it looks like M. puritanus it can't hurt too much to place it there -- who can say otherwise? :-)

But, you might want to ask one of the editors (Lynette, John & Jane, etc.).

That's it
Too bad none of these are identified beyond genus.

What do you think of Mimetus?
