The other pipe
Hi, Lynette-

Pipe? (I must have missed the first shoe). I don't know too much about them myself (Cybaeus, not pipes). Kaston (Know the Spiders) says that virtually all species are found in the western States and that they are common in wooded areas, constructing webs "under sticks, stones, and debris on the ground" (including pipes, I guess). Looks like they were once in the Agelenidae.

There are so many species that even with good genital images a determination looks like it might be difficult -- to start with, looks like one would need Roth 1952. Do you ever send any specimens to Rod, or are you more of a "live and let live" nature?

If Rod is interested
I send him specimens. For example, if it is something rare or new the area. I still need to email my latest batch of spiders to him. We'll see what he says. I'm attaching a photo of the pipes/habitat. The original discussion included a link to flickr.
