Size: 18-20mm
Another view of the same beetle. The big bulges of the pronotum are were immediately obvious, even in dim light inside.

Phileurus prob valgus
I'm sure of the genus, but not positive about whether it's P. valgus or not as I don't know what might occur in TX.
