Cottony Scale - Pulvinaria

Cottony Scale - Pulvinaria
Shirley, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 7, 2009
Size: 6mm
This larva was attached to the side of a tree, on top of a web like a spider egg case. Could that have been Braconid parasites that made the web?

Moved
Moved from Microdon.

cottony scales vs Microdon larva

It's possible I made a mistake with this one too.

protrusion
I don't think mine had that protrusion (breathing spiracles) that I see on images like yours below

I can't tell if the one above has them or not. If it does I'd say you have this right, if not, I'd say it's a cottony scale.
