This is a male. Males will congregate in "bachelor parties" to roost for the night. Remember, males do not have stingers, so it is much safer to approach these:-)

Well, thanks for that. I never considered a bachelor party! They are just around a neighbors porch and he was ready to bring out the bug spray. This forum save the lot of them..
