Wasp of some sort? - Nomada - female

Wasp of some sort? - Nomada - Female
NE Philly area, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 7, 2009
Size: maybe 1/2 in. or so
This landed in front of me on the mulch while I was checking one of my gardens. It never stopped flapping its wings, but I couldn't hear them. It seemed a bit agitated, but didn't seem to mind my presence. Since I think it's a wasp of some kind, though, I didn't push my luck. Any idea what type it is?

Cuckoo bee.
This is a cuckoo bee in the genus Nomada, as in "no madda how much it looks like a wasp, it's still a bee:-)"

Thanks! Now that I know what to look for, I'm finding it all over the place!

Your help was most appreciated!
