This photo can be frassed if this is a fairly common species that is already well-represented in the guide. Found at distal tip of a 6 foot tall Turk's Cap plant.

This is the nymph of one of the bird grasshoppers, genus Schistocerca. Nice shots. Hope you are having great fun in Texas. Please take me with you next time:-)

...so should I frass this?

Actually, I was looking for someone to go with me on this last trip...I must say, poking around a park at night -- alone -- where border control agents are stationed and local law enforcement stops vehicles (including mine) due to high drug trafficking -- was not a comfortable feeling. The officer politely suggested I not be there alone at night!

That being said -- it's a great park with A LOT of unusual species. I think it would be a great place for a future gathering of some type. (People would HAVE to be oblivious to HOT weather and mosquitoes, chiggers and biting ants).
