Common Whitetail - Plathemis lydia - Female
Swamp White Oak Preserve, Nichols, Muscatine County, Iowa, USA

Size: ~5 cm
Several of these dragonflies were flying across grassy field interspersed with trees in bottomland, occasionally alighting on a log.
