Wasp?

Wasp?
Morristown, Morris County, New Jersey, USA
June 14, 2009
Size: 1 1/4"
Looked through countless photos and I don't see it in my field guide. I'm a bit of a newbie. Hoping someone can help me ID this. Found him hovering in a little clearing going from plant to plant. I assumed it to be a wasp of some kind.

Moved
Moved from Banchinae.

Banchinae…
The orange and black coloration, the long, laterally compressed abdomen, a propodeal lobe extending over the mid coxae, and a diamond-shaped areolet indicate a member of this ichneumon subfamily. This is a female.

Ichneumon wasp?
They seem like they vary a bit but this looks close.
