Beetle larva

Beetle larva
Wayland, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
August 17, 2005
Size: 5mm
It looked just like a piece of frass.

Wider view of leaf?
Hello again Tom, if you could provide a wider view of the leaf (the uncropped original or related photos), I might be able to recognize the plant.

Added picture
of the plant. Hope it helps.

Hedge Bindweed
I think the leaf on which the larva is located is Hedge Bindweed (Calystegia sepium) in the Morning-glory family (Convolvulaceae).
