Camel cricket.
How big was this thing? Sure looks like a female square-legged camel cricket, Tropidischia xanthostoma. They get to be enormous (maximum legspan of about eight (8) inches according to one reference). Their antennae are also very long. They usually occur in damp, dark places like wells, beneath bridges, mine shafts, etc. on the west coast.

Tropidischia
