Mother spider - Geolycosa missouriensis - female

Mother spider - Geolycosa missouriensis - Female
aurora, arapahoe County, Colorado, USA
August 17, 2005
The burrow has been evident for several years, but the spider making an appearance is entirely new. She is watching over several spiderlings. Is she a wolf spider?

Moved

Spider.
Very hard to tell from the image, but I think this might be a burrowing wolf spider in the genus Geolycosa. It certainly is some kind of wolf spider in the family Lycosidae.

Thanks for your quick response
Sorry for the poor image quality. I'm using a huge lens, since she has incredible eyesight and sees every move I make. Early in the AM I saw her with a couple spiderlings on her abdomen, but she saw me looking and retreated. Will post any new images worth a look. Thanks again!
