Large wasp on flowers - Polistes

Size: about 3/4 inch
Saw this large wasp which I think is a vespid next to what I think is a house fly on our flowers in our front yard last week.

Paper wasp.
This is a paper wasp, probably Polistes dorsalis, though difficult to tell from just this one image. Yes, paper wasps are a type of vespid.
