Tachypompilus ferrugineus.
Do we have the Tachypompilus Ferrugineus in California? I saw a huge bright orange wasp today. It was about 2 1/4 inches long.

Tachypompilus ferrugineus.
Wow, I'll have to move to Nebraska if they have all these spider wasps! This one is Tachypompilus ferrugineus, the only common all-red spider wasp I know of. They can get quite large, tackling wolf spiders and fisher spiders as food for their offspring.
