female Thiodina puerpera - Colonus puerperus - female

female Thiodina puerpera - Colonus puerperus - Female
Shelby Park, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA
June 14, 2009
Size: ~9mm
I believe this is another female ''Thiodina puerpera''. However, it's abdomen looks quite different than the other ones I've caught. In particular it doesn't have much hair on its abdomen and thus is lacking the typical "stripes". Does that mean that this is probably an older specimen?

Could be age
or possibly its previous molt occurring under poor circumstances.

You might get a better view of the internal epigynal structure if you can prevent light from hitting the ventral surface during exposure.

thanks
