might actually be Liopinus
I don't often dispute IDs by beetle folks like Ed or Mike, but one of the few really good diagnostic features for Astylidius parvus is the dark ridge-like nodes at the elytral bases. The clarity on this pair of images is sufficient to see that it lacks these ridges. Compare, in particular, to this image showing a lateral view of the ridges in a genuine specimen of A. parvus: http://bugguide.net/node/view/302244
