I think this is a Nessus Sphinx Moth - Amphion floridensis

Size: 1 3/4"
I saw this and it acted like a hummingbird by the way it hovered and went from flower to flower using it's long beak. But it certainly looked like a moth. I had never seen such a thing and was delighted to have to opportunity to observe it :)
