I don't think it was oversharpened but here it is unsharpened and cropped tighter. Since it is such a small subject the depth of field is very limited. The black band bordered in white on the abdomen is indeed there and is not a shadow. It is not as sharp as I would like as it was taken using natural light and any subject motion would cause it to go slightly out of focus.
