Braconid hand stand - Atanycolus longicauda - female

Braconid hand stand - Atanycolus longicauda - Female
Wisconsin Rapids, Wood County, Wisconsin, USA
June 17, 2009
Size: 0.54"
Thought this was an ichneumonid wasp, but a local expert says it is likely a braconid wasp instead. The size was checked carefully using physical markers. The ovipositor is almost 1" long. Some of the other shots show it exploring and ovipositing.
