Correction
This is an adult male in the genus Dichopetala. The basic form of the male cercus could yield some clues but there are about eight or so species in TX so this is probably as far as it will go.

young katydid
It's actually an immature katydid of some kind. It might be a Thread-legged Katydid, Genus Arethaea of some kind. I may get correct on the genus, as I'm not an expert.
