Looks like a wisp of black thread in the air, almost impossible to see were it not over white flowers

Aren't these guys fantastic?
For a second there, I thought you had somehow managed to crack my computer and post some of my photos -- I swear I have images of what must be the same species, also a female, and also nectaring at buckwheat. (As usual though, I never got around to posting them. Glad you did!) In my time observing this wasp, I was quite impressed with its delicate structure...

Something in the way they move.
These are fascinating creatures, and I can't see them well without a camera in front of me. Have observed others at Nix, all low and around buckwheat. First and only other one I shot was at Irvine Park, also on buckwheat but closer to chest level, which made for better shooting.
