huge ant lion - Vella
World Birding Center at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
October 3, 2008
Only the second time I have seen a monster of such proportions, first time I was able to photograph it. Am guessing at the genus based on the immense size. At my usual spot for interesting insects, the big light in the park's maintenance yard.
