Mating Flies - Stylogaster neglecta - male - female

Mating Flies - Stylogaster neglecta - Male Female
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
June 7, 2008
Another older shot of mating flies. Sorry about the overcontrasty image.

ID help appreciated.

Thanks.

Moved
Moved from Stylogaster.

Third antennal segment > 4 times length of 2nd indicates S. neglecta here, as does the conspicuous white tip of female's ovipositor, and its length (greater than rest of the abdomen and thorax...see description on pg. 12 of Aldrich).

Thanks Aaron.
Much appreciated.

My Pleasure
Thanks for posting the lovely photo. It shows well the contrast between the long abdomen of female (extended by lengthy ovipositor); and the comparatively shorter, truncate, abdomen of the male.

Stylogaster?
in the guide here. Nice find!

Thank you.
Thanks John and Jane again for your help.
