Is It A Grasshopper? Is It Harmless? What Is It? - Romalea microptera

I'm attempting to identify this little creature (which I think is some sort of grasshopper). If anyone knows, first, if it is a grasshopper and then, second, what kind of grasshopper, I would be appreciative.

I have three hound dogs who -- if they happen to see or sense any such creature -- will catch it and carry it around in their mouths. My main concern is finding out if this particular creature presents any danger to other animals. Thank you.

Correction from what I just posted. I think Ashley is correct.

Eastern Lubber Grasshopper
Or so it appears to me - a young nymph. Cool! I have never seen one in real life, myself. It says on here that they'll secrete a smelly liquid when bothered, but I don't know that that means they're necessarily "dangerous".

Middle Instar
It's hard to tell the scale but it is an instar. This is what they look like changing clothes.

Brazen!
You'd think that they would close the doors on the fitting rooms. Nice shot, Robert.

neat
That's a cool shot! I've watch cicadas and butterflies "hatch" but have never witnessed a g-hopper molt.
