Bee/Ant bug w/ Antennas? - Megarhyssa macrurus

Bee/Ant bug w/ Antennas? - Megarhyssa macrurus
West Jordan, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
June 22, 2009
Size: 2" Body w/ head
I noticed this thing on a dead elm tree in my yard, it has wings, looks somewhat like a wasp of somesort, the antennas (3-4" long) from the rear of the bug you can see were embedded into the tree, like it was sucking stuff from the tree, it was like pumping, sounds weird I know, i never seen anything like it here in Utah before, can anyone help me identify it.

Moved

Female
A female Megarhyssa sp. a type of Ichneumon wasp. It was laying its eggs in the tree. They are quite fascinating :)
