I found this insect drowning in some water... I think it is
Arhyssus
? Which species live in nothern California?

Thanks for the reply! That does appear to be a very close match... The main difference I can see (besides the color) is that the description of
Liorhyssus hyalinus
on here says that the wings protrude far beyond the abdomen, which I don't see in my insect. It could just be the perspective of the shot though...

the thin smooth polished collar along the anterior pronotal margin is what gives it away
