Transverse Flower Fly - Eristalis transversa - male

Transverse Flower Fly - Eristalis transversa - Male
Bear, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
June 2, 2009
Size: ~ 10 mm
On Japanese Holly (Ilex crenata).

Moved
Moved from Eristalis. Thanks Ron!

Transverse flower fly looks good to me.
Disclaimer: I'm not up on eastern species. Eristalis, definitely.

Thanks Ron!
Don't be so modest - you seem to know every Syrphid.

*blush*
There are at least two eastern Eristalis species I've mucked up before, among other things.

A year older and maybe smarter
It is a Transverse flower fly, Ted.

Three for three
Transverse Flower Fly and a year older for sure. As for being smarter, I should hope so - you had a whole year to learn something. :-)
Many thanks for getting back to this one!
