Bentsen red bug - Dysdercus mimulus

Bentsen red bug - Dysdercus mimulus
World Birding Center at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Mission, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
October 5, 2007
Another find from the park maintenance yard light; I'm thinking maybe Dysdercus mimulus?

Moved
Moved from Red Bugs.

from Merrill Sweet:
"pyrrhocorids are not my specialty; I have tried to use van Doesburg's key... . D. mimulus does look most like it, but not entirely in head color as compared to the pronotum. Too bad Doesburg did not take color photos. Ridiculous bunch of bugs!! lots of mimicry, too."
