Chapparal Clerid - Loedelia maculicollis

Chapparal Clerid - Loedelia maculicollis
Live Oak Springs, San Diego County, California, USA
June 19, 2009
Size: 4.8mm
Reminds me of the Red -legged Ham Beetle. Related?

Loedelia maculicollis is what i think
much nicer than any ham beetles anyway!

ID confirmed by Jacques Rifkind
he says: "Yes, L. maculicollis. Nice critter: there are several more in the genus south of the border, but they are mostly rarer than hen's teeth"

Wow, great!
