Acutalis on Phytolacca americana - Acutalis semicrema

Acutalis on Phytolacca americana - Acutalis semicrema
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
August 23, 2005
Size: 3 mm
A pair of Acutalis semicrema chewing holes in a pokeweed leaf. The pokeweeds here are currently infested with large numbers of these tiny treehoppers.

Acutalis semicrema
This is a smaller species than A. brunnea, and occurs only along the Gulf coast.

Thanks for the correction. T
Thanks for the correction. There isn't a node for semicrema as of yet; do you have the authority here to create one? If not, what's the procedure for getting this moved to the right place?

additional correction
Bugs do not "chew holes" in leaves; their sucking mouthparts are like soda straws, and they leave little observable damage except discoloration around the feeding site.

Done for you
- nice shot! I guess the procedure is what you did - ask for help and wait for someone to respond!
