I found images that look similar but they are spread over more than one genus. Pretty confusing for me.

Are you considering Chrysotoxum and Sericomyia?
My best guess is that it's the latter. Have you seen this post, Jon?

the heads up, Ron. I thought the yellow hairs would be distinctive but wasn't certain.
