Size: 2-3mm
This one is much smaller than most of the Chironimae midges around here, but I did find multiple individuals. I think this is a female.

Tanypus (Apelopia) female
This is a female Tanypus, probably subgenus Apelopia. Identification to species requires a closeup view of the hind tibia and the pronotum. Generally, male midges are more easily identifiable than females.
